Rose is popular, knows it, and runs her life on a simple routine of looking good and having fun. Her roommate is the opposite: the nerd, in her words, who handles the practical side of the household and never pushes back. Rose treats him as a convenience, and the series is built on the imbalance between them. The stakes are small and personal, one man's pride against a woman who enjoys testing how much of it she can use.

Rose introduces herself, sketches her days and then her roommate, whom she treats as part of the furniture. She closes by revealing that a keyhole is now bigger, deliberately, and that he has her permission to peek. In the second episode he wonders whether the invitation is real. Rose, bored and alone, drafts him as her driver and dangles a reward. A lollipop remark and an evening out later, she finishes by lecturing him on how it is done.
